Break!!!

Here is a quick rundown of the latest... we are on a 6 week break from chemo!!  YAY!

"Normalcy" (is that a word??) is good!!

Our visit to CTCA this week was met with a bit of resistance from me because we have been enjoying a more normal kind of life these past several weeks and I didn't want to have that lifestyle interrupted.  Since the C-diff has been knocked out by an antibiotic and confirmed no cancer or C-diff present in the colon as a result of the biopsy taken during the most recent colonoscopy, we have been living a normal life, which sounds kind of unremarkable to some, but believe me, "normal" is a good thing!!  We have been going to church regularly again, have traveled to PA to visit family, Arnie is going to work every day, we have enjoyed going to the park and taking pictures of everything again, we have enjoyed walks, he is interested in gardening, washing the trucks and in working in his wood-working shop.

Our visit to CTCA resulted in an additional break of 6 weeks, since  the CEA has dropped some and the blood work numbers showed normal.  The last scan results had showed very small nodules in the lungs which did not even show on the PET because they are so small.  It appears as though all the cancer has reached a stable level.  At the 6 week visit, we will have scans in addition to the blood work which will give us a good picture of where we are with the cancer.

Please continue to keep us in your prayers.  God has been so good to us as we continue this journey.  God bless each of you and thank you for your love and concern for us.

  1. This is such wonderful news! Something told me Dad wouldn't need chemo. Remember me saying that I hoped they would find out for sure before they just gave him a treatment? I'm so grateful, as I know you guys both are too. We love you!! We pray that the next visit will continue to show more good, encouraging news!

  2. Hi Sharon, the news sounds great! It is great to hear that Arnie is working and doing some of the things he enjoys. It is so wonderful to be able to carry on life to some what normal again. This cancer stuff just gets so old, it's really amazing how any of us stay strong enough to keep fighting. I am so excited for him and you. It's been 4 weeks now since my last treatment of chemo and I have been feeling great, like a different person. I am really hating to go tomorrow for my next treatment, but some how we find the strength to continue., but as you know sometimes it is so hard. Give Arnie my best and you take care as well. Our prayers are always with you...take care!

  3. Hi Arnie & Sharon,
Great news and it's times like this that makes the little things in life like gardening, enjoying the outdoors, and hobbies so much more appreciated and enjoyable. We look forward to seeing you soon.
